Walking into our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) can feel like stepping onto another planet - the environment is probably unlike anything you've experienced. The unit is often busy, with lots of activity, people moving around, and loud beeping monitors - and above all, the unit is extremely cramped making the care of our tiny babies particularly challenging.

For the NICU here at the Royal United Hospital, this is only part of the story, which is why The Forever Friends Appeal is raising £4.7 million towards a new NICU that will be the first of a new generation of therapeutic healthcare buildings.

 

We aim the build a pioneering holistic NICU that will:

• Be a sustainable, low carbon building
• Be over double the size of the existing unit
• Provide a highly beneficial healing and supportive environment for the babies and parents

Both my babies needed intensive care and years later I'll never forget the desperation and worry - or the frantic treatment they received at the RUH. That's why I'm determined to help raise £4.5million to build a more spacious and sustainable new unit with the best possible neonatal and intensive care facilities.

Our most vulnerable babies and their parents deserve the best we can give them.
