Ha! Ha! raise hundreds - 18/07/2001
For four days over the Christmas period, Ha! Ha! Bar and Canteen on Walcot Street helped to raise the profile of The Forever Friends Appeal by entertaining their customers with live music, and raising £718.50 towards the CT Scanner campaign. From Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th December, each night in the bar had a different theme, from Snowball mania, to Mad Friday, and Sexy soulful evenings with a Twist of Jazz.

Staff members from Ha! Ha! Bar and Canteen really got into the spirit of their fundraising for the hospital, and adorned fancy dress for several of the nights. One of these involved a ski party, with all staff serving customers with winter cocktails, while wrapped up to the max in ski wear.

Matthew Smith, Deputy manager of Ha! Ha! Bar and Canteen, comments: “The event was a really huge success, not just for our customers enjoyment, but we raised such a wonderful figure for such a worthy local charity. I can honestly say that it was one of the most enjoyable times at work for all the staff involved. I would like to thank all our customers for their support and kind custom over the Christmas period, as without them raising such a fantastic amount as this for The Forever Friends Appeal would just not have been possible!”

Mr Smith, continues: “We are extremely proud of the success of our Christmas period and I hope that 2007 brings as much success to Ha! Ha!, our customers and of course The Forever Friends Appeal.”

Jo Hones, Events & Community Officer for The Forever Friends Appeal, says: “Christmas is one of my favourite times of year, as I love to see people get into the spirit of giving by choosing to support their local hospital with fundraising events. Ha! Ha! Bar and Canteen, did of a wonderful job of organizing four evenings worth of fundraising and I would therefore like to thank everyone involved for their tremendous support, and enthusiastic approach to raising money for the CT Scanner campaign.”

Ted's Team to collect at Christmas Market - 12/06/2006
Forever Friends Appeal collectors will be lining the streets of Bath city centre from 5 to 9.30pm on Thursday 7th December, to encourage the late night Christmas shoppers to delve deep in their pockets and help the Appeal in its final push to complete the campaign for a vital second CT Scanner for the Royal United Hospital (RUH) by Christmas.

Street collections are a crucial part of the Appeal’s fundraising calendar, and rely on the generosity and kindness of passing shoppers to drop their change into the charity’s collection tins and buckets. The Forever Friends Appeal has kindly been granted permission to collect throughout the city centre on the evening of December 7th and a strong team of staff, volunteers and RAG collectors from Bath will be on hand to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to donate.

Jo Hones, Events & Community Officer for The Forever Friends Appeal, said: “Christmas shopping is one of the busiest times of year on the streets of Bath, when most people are gearing themselves up to the excitement and festivities of the Christmas period. Therefore if you are out shopping in Bath on Thursday night, keep your eyes peeled for a Forever Friends collector, and please throw some change into their bucket to show your support for your local hospital at this time of year.”

Miss Hones continued: “I would like to thank all our volunteers who have so kindly offered their time to brave the cold weather and help the Appeal in its aim to support the CT Scanner campaign. We are extremely grateful for their continuous support over the year, as without help from dedicated people like them, fundraising events such as this would not be as successful as they are!”
