A group of Bath residents are to be recognised for their dedication and commitment in fundraising £10,000 for The Forever Friends Appeal.

The Bath RUH Fundraising Group meet once a month at The Locksbrook Inn and organise fundraising activities and events around Bath in support of the Appeal’s cancer care campaign.

Jo Grimes, secretary of the community group said:

“My mum had cancer and was treated in the RUH’s current cancer unit. After she lost her battle with cancer, I decided that I wanted to make a difference for future patients.

“That’s when I got involved with the Bath fundraising group. I’ve made new friends and we all share the same passion – to support the RUH and fundraise for their charity. I love every minute of helping organise different events throughout the year and being with such a positive group of people.”

The group will be officially acknowledged for their significant contribution at the Appeal’s Annual Partner Reception in November – created to thank its supporters and recognise the fantastic fundraising efforts made by the local community, businesses, and families that support The Forever Friends Appeal.

Claudia Hickin, Senior Community Fundraiser said:

“I would like to thank Rob, Jo, Lucy, Amanda, Pete, Joyce, Felicity, Sue and Hannah for supporting the Appeal over the past three years and everyone who has made a donation at their events.

“They’re a lovely group who are committed in helping us build the pioneering new Cancer Centre and as well as becoming one of our community partners, a piece of equipment in the new Cancer Centre will be named after them.”

We have four community groups across the hospital’s catchment area. New members are always welcome and anyone interested in joining can find out more on our website or by contacting Claudia Hickin, our Senior Community Fundraiser.
