GiftAid helps your donation to go even further. All personal donations qualify, be it large or small, one off or regular.
If you are a UK taxpayer we can claim back the tax you have already paid on your donations. The extra income comes straight from the Government, so you can increase your donations at no cost to yourself.
- The charity will reclaim 28p of tax on every £1 you gave up to 5 April 2008.
- The charity will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 you give on or after 6 April 2008.
This is because the government’s Gift Aid scheme allows us to reclaim tax on donations. For your donation(s) to be eligible for Gift-Aid you must have paid or will pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for the current tax year (6 April to 5 April) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) that you donate to will reclaim on your gifts for the current tax year. Other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify.
If you make a donation online you will automatically be asked whether or not you would like to Gift-Aid your donation.
If you pay income tax at the higher rate, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self Assessment Tax Return if you want to receive the additional tax relief due to you.
The Forever Friends Appeal will not disclose your details to any organisation other than the Inland Revenue.
