A Somerset site manager has proven he really does go the extra mile after walking a marathon for The Forever Friends Appeal, fundraising charity for the Royal United Hospital.

Rod Dunford, who works at David Wilson HomesWyndham Park development in Yeovil, trekked 26.2 miles from Devizes to Bath in the charities annual Walk of Life to raise more than £500.

He said: “I was a bit sore the next day but it was definitely worth it raising so much money for charity. It took just under six hours so it was good to be first across the line and get some well needed rest while cheering on the others completing the challenge.”

Louise Ware, sales director at David Wilson Homes, said: “Rod is a shining example of how our employees go the extra mile and we couldn’t be more proud of him.

“It’s not just in his charity work that he goes the extra mile. He’s recognised by all of us at David Wilson Homes as one of our outstanding site managers, who works tirelessly behind the scenes to bring new homes to the area.”

Since being appointed as site manager at Wyndham Park two years ago Rod has improved customer satisfaction to an impressive 95.5%. In his last 37 NHBC surveys, which rigorously check the quality of homes, he has scored 100%.

Rod said: “I really enjoy my job and I’m proud of the quality of homes we build. For me, the most rewarding part is seeing people move into their new homes. Buying your own home is a big life event and helping to make that happen and seeing the smiles on people’s faces as they move in is a real pleasure.”
