The Grand Christmas Raffle, Street Collection, Bath Christmas Market and Volunteers Christmas Party has kicked started a crackling Christmas for The Forever Friends Appeal at the RUH! All funds are raising money towards the RUH Space for Cancer Care Campaign.
The Grand Christmas raffle draw took place in the RUH Atrium on Friday 9th December. Hosted by Don Foster MP and guest appearance from actor Christopher Timothy, ticket sales added up to a grand total of £15,000. RUH volunteer, Bill Viles who organises the Christmas raffle each year, commented: “I was grateful for all the members of staff, public and personal friends who contributed most generously. In all the 19 years I have been working on this, it was the best lot of prizes in content and value I have ever had.”
Earlier in the afternoon on Friday 9th December, the audience in the Atrium was also entertained with delightful festive tunes by Newbridge Primary School’s choir.
Big Ted and The Forever Friends volunteering team spent the evening on Thursday 1st December, away from the cozy comforts of home. They walked the frosty streets of Bath City Centre in Christmas costumes collecting from all of those generous shoppers who gave Christmas change towards a good local cause. Donations mounted up to a great total of £505.76.
The Forever Friends Appeal were also lucky enough to be allocated a stall at Bath’s Christmas Market on Thursday 8th December, selling supporter’s gifts of woolen handmade children’s clothing and patchwork blankets.
Community Fundraiser for The Forever Friends Appeal, Zoe Tainton says: “I hope everyone who has worked hard at contributing can say they now know how Santa feels giving for the good! Thanks to all our volunteers and donors this year’s festive spirits are high!”
The Appeal team organised a Volunteers Christmas Party on Tuesday 13th December at The Lansdown Grove Hotel, giving huge thanks for all the tremendous help given throughout 2011.
