Conquer Snowdon by torchlight!
Challenge yourself to trek to the summit of Snowdon (1,085m) at night, and make a real difference to the staff, patients and families at the Royal United Hospitals Bath.
It’s time to embark on the climb of your life. Sign up to climb the highest mountain in England & Wales under the starlight canopy of Snowdonia National Park.
Your journey will begin in the small Welsh town of Llanberis, and from there you and other supporters of the NHS will travel by torchlight as you make your way to the summit, supported every step of the way by fully qualified mountain leaders.
At the top, you will be rewarded with unforgettable, breath-taking views of the sun rising over the Snowdonia mountain range. Descend in the early morning light, and return to Llanberis where a celebratory breakfast will be waiting.
The adventure begins here....

• Follow the Llanberis track to the summit

- How much is the entry fee?
It’s £49 per person. This is payable directly to Global Adventure Challenges at point of registration.
There are two payment options for this challenge and the fundraising requirement will depend on which one you choose. Whichever you choose, our team will on hand to support you ever step of the way with your fundraising!
Option A – Minimum Sponsorship
You pay the £49 registration fee and then you raise a minimum sponsorship (fundraise) of £290. Part of this will cover the cost of the trek (£145) and the remainder, plus any additional funds you are able to raise, will be put towards our charitable cause.
Please note, 80% of the minimum sponsorship must be with us (The Forever Friends Appeal) no later than 10 weeks before departure, so that we can pay the challenge costs to Global Adventure Challenges. This means that £232 must be raised and received by 6 March 2021. The remaining 20% must be received 4 weeks after the challenge.
Option B – Self-funding
You pay the £49 registration fee and the trek costs of £145 directly to Global Adventure Challenges 10 weeks before departure. Then just fundraise as much as you can!
- Are there any age restrictions?
The minimum age for this trek is 18 years old (those aged 14-17 years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian).
- How fit do I need to be?
This trek has been as challenging (1) by the event providers, meaning it is designed to push your boundaries, but is achievable by most people as long as you fitness train beforehand. The fitter you are, the more you will enjoy the challenge. Training tips will be sent with your Welcome Pack from Global Adventure Challenges, along with lots of other useful information.
- What kit do I need?
Global Adventure Challenges will provide you with a kit list of what you’ll need to bring once you have registered. Apart from some broken in trekking boots and some waterproofs, you don’t need any specialist kit.
- Do I have to carry my own bags to the summit?
All you’ll need is a small day pack when trekking to carry essential items such as a camera, energy snacks, waterproofs, warm clothing etc.
- Do I have to bring my own food?
Snacks will be provided during the trek! We do suggest you bring along your own snacks to give you an extra boost along the way. When you complete your challenge breakfast baps will be served along with tea and coffee – dietary requirements can be catered for as long as these have been declared in advance.
- What support is there on the challenge?
There will be a strong support team with professional Global Adventure Challenge leaders. A full, comprehensive first aid kit will be taken. A support vehicle will be located at the foot of the mountain providing extra support if needed. Mobile phones and VHF radios will be used to ensure our safety and security at all times.
- What happens if I get tired?
You can stop for drinks and snacks as and when you need to. A guide will be bringing up the rear of the group ensuring no-one is left alone – remember, this is not a race!
