Region- Wide Fundraising event for Schools and other Youth Groups
Don your party hats as our annual fundraising day Ted’s Big Day Out is making a comeback for 2019! On Friday 18th October, schools, nurseries, and other youth groups across Bath, Wiltshire and Somerset are invited to engage in a variety of FUNdraising activities to raise money for Children’s Services at the Royal United Hospitals, Bath.
This year we are celebrating our 20th Year of Fundraising for the RUH and what a fantastic 20 years it has been. Since 1999, young people have raised over £350,000 to support areas of the hospital that lie beyond the scope of NHS funding. To commemorate this special milestone, we are taking the time to thank and celebrate our wonderful supporters who are at the heart of what we do. So, this year it’s all about YOU!
This year’s theme is ‘Celebrate Your Way’ – we are inviting you to channel your passions, interests and dreams to raise vital funds to support patients and their families being cared for at the RUH. Whether you get your bake on, organise a mufti day or get together with friends for a quiz night, we would love you to be part of the day. Whatever it is, you can really make a difference.
By taking part in Ted’s Big Day Out, you will be supporting Children’s Services across the RUH- by helping to fund specialist medical equipment, research and therapy toys for the RUH’s neonatal care unit, children’s centre and children’s therapies department.
Emily Graham, Head of Children’s Therapies at the Royal United Hospitals said:
‘’This is an amazing opportunity for us to improve our resources and environment to help children engage with and enjoy their therapy. For example, story sacks to promote development of communication skills, and interactive toys to encourage movement. We would also like to buy new specialist equipment to support posture and mobility. This would enhance our assessment of children with disabilities to ensure they have the appropriate equipment to promote physical skills for play, mobility and life.”
Ted’s Big Day Out is a wonderful opportunity for young people to learn about the importance of the NHS, the value of helping others AND have lots of fun along the way. Plus, the first 10 organisations to sign up will receive a special guest appearance from ‘Big Ted’ himself. So, what are you waiting for?
