There’s always more we can do as a charity to help improve the lives of patients at the Royal United Hospitals – and that’s where you come in.

Our wonderful volunteers enable us to make an even greater difference to the patients and their families in the hospital’s care.

Volunteering for us is a great way to use your skills, time and enthusiasm to support the local community through the lifesaving work of the hospital. From fundraising administration to supporting one of our many exciting events, there’s something for everyone.

Whatever your availability and however you choose to help, you’ll have a fun, rewarding experience as part of our amazing community of volunteers.

  • Choose how you’d like to help from our current opportunities
  • Spread the word as an ambassador for the hospital charity

Volunteering at the RUH

The volunteering opportunities available with us directly support our important charitable work helping patients and their families at the Royal United Hospitals. The roles do not involve patient contact and only very rarely involve visits to wards.

If you are looking for opportunities to volunteer within the hospital, please contact the hospital’s volunteer service via The Friends of the RUH.

Volunteer at events

Our events are currently on hold during the COVID-19 crisis. If you would like to be kept informed of events once our events program restarts please get in touch.

We are always looking for volunteers to help out at our events.

You could be doing anything from welcoming participants, selling merchandise or cheering our runners and cyclists on. Whatever your role on the day, we guarantee you’ll have an amazing time!

If you would like to get involved please contact either Laura or Maddy in our Events Team on laurapearce1@nhs.net / 01225 821535 or  maddy.jones@nhs.net / 01225 825823 who will be delighted to hear from you.

Collection tin co-ordinator

Collection tin collections are currently on hold during the COVID-19 crisis. If you would like to help in the future please get in touch.

If you’re a real people person and can strike up a conversation with anyone in your local community, our collection tin coordinator role could be the one for you!

This would require you to visit local shops and businesses and ask them if they would like a collection tin. Every few months you would be responsible for swapping the tins for an empty one and returning the full ones to us.

If you would like to get involved please contact Danny on dannyo’callaghan@nhs.net or call 01225 825931

Fundraising groups

Fundraising groups have been asked not to hold events during the COVID-19 crisis. However, if you would like to help in the future please get in touch.

If you have a group of friends that want to support our hospital, why not create your own fundraising group and invite others to join you!

You could hold regular meetings to think of new ideas and one of our Community Fundraising team will be on call to help you with any questions you might have!

If you would like to get involved please contact with Laura in our Community Team on l.cherry1@nhs.net / 01225 825825 who will be delighted to hear from you.
