If you’ve put off writing or updating your Will, our annual fundraising initiative, RUH Will Month offers you the opportunity to use the professional Will writing services of local solicitors across the RUH Catchment area at a reduced cost, which will then be donated by the solicitors to our charity for the benefit of patients at the Royal United Hospital.
Making a Will is such an important thing to do, yet many of us don’t want to think about it, or are worried about the cost, even though it can leave behind big problems. While thinking, talking and planning for death may feel uncomfortable, you may need to consider how the situation would be if you died or became incapacitated – through illness, accident, old age or emergency. Whatever your age, if you have assets, e.g. a house, savings, a business, family, causes you care about or specific funeral plans, please consider making a Will.
To help you, our participating solicitors will prepare and draw up a standard Will at a reduced fee in support of the Royal United Hospitals.
How to take Part
Closer to September, we will announce the participating solicitors, so you can make an appointment in September and mention RUH Will Month.
At the initial meeting the solicitor will guide you through the process and ensure that your Will reflects your wishes. You will be asked to make a payment of £100 for a single Will or £150 for a mirror Will. (Please make cheques payable to the RUH Charitable Fund).
This scheme offers a professional Will writing service for a standard Will. If your requirements are more complex and need additional work your solicitor will advise you of this and explain any further costs before proceeding.
What difference will my support make?
Some of the best and worst days of our lives will be spent in the Royal United Hospital. Its charity, The Forever Friends Appeal works to support patients, family and friends during these times by improving the hospital’s environment, providing additional equipment and facilities as well as finishing touches and extras that help staff provide the very best care for patients. Your support will make a difference.
Am I obligated to leave a gift in my Will to the RUH?
There is no obligation whatsoever to include a gift to the hospital in your Will, and your arrangements are private. If, having reviewed your personal circumstances, you decide you would like to leave a gift in your Will, thank you. You do not need to leave a fortune or decide between the hospital and your family and friends, but any gift will help the RUH continue providing great care for generations to come.
The smallest of gestures can make the biggest difference to patient’s lives – Give the greatest gift you can that costs nothing in your lifetime.
