The first Wiltshire based company – F. G. Bond & Son in Marshfield – has joined the Brick Wall Club in support of The Forever Friends Appeal Cancer Care Campaign. F. G. Bond & Son are a long standing, family run business providing independent garage services and their award winning green lorries are a familiar sight on the West’s roads. In return for a £1000 donation, they secured their place in the fast-growing Brick Wall Club and will join other Brick Wall Club members with a lasting acknowledgement within the design of the new Cancer Centre being planned at Bath’s Royal United Hospital.
Annette Bond, Partner of F. G. Bond & Son comments: “Having visited the Oncology ward and seen the lack of space where patients currently receive their treatment, we then viewed the exciting plans for new Cancer Centre and wanted to make a contribution to this wonderful, worthwhile project”.
This summer the Forever Friends Appeal charity was thrilled to welcome three other local businesses into the Brick Wall Club in support of the Cancer Care Campaign: Batterham Matthews Architects, a contemporary architects’ practice based in Bath , with a diverse portfolio throughout the South West; 1pm, a local asset finance and business loan provider, whose staff raised half of the brick wall value and the company match-funded the rest; plus local engineering company Rotork Controls Ltd, who were inspired to join after members of the charity committee visited the RUH to find out more about the plans for a new Cancer Care Centre.
The Brick Wall Club is a unique new initiative was launched by the charity earlier this year. The scheme is open to the first 25 companies that join as members by donating £1000, after which the club doors will close. All members will then be invited to a prestigious Announcement Event, where they will each be entered into a draw and one lucky member will win a room naming opportunity in the new RUH Cancer Centre.
Corporate Officer for The Forever Friends Appeal, Louisa Smyllie, comments: “We are delighted to welcome more local businesses on board as members of The Brick Wall Club, their generous support is invaluable in helping build a new Cancer Centre here at the RUH. We hope that more local businesses are inspired to join the Club alongside them and not miss out on this unique opportunity.”
The RUH Cancer Care Campaign is raising £8.5million towards the build of an exceptional new Cancer Centre for cancer patients and their families. Each year the RUH cares for 2,200 new patients with cancer from the hospital’s extensive catchment area. The clinical care is amongst the best in the UK, but the cancer unit facilities are outdated and uncomfortable, and do not provide patients with the positive environment necessary to support the healing process. The hospital’s vision is to build a Cancer Centre which will balance clinical expertise with the provision of a nurturing and therapeutic environment.
