Celebrating 10 years of ‘Ted’s Truck’

Teds TruckEveryone recognises Big Ted from Ted’s Big Day Out, and always alongside him is the car that he drives about the catchment area in the lead up to and on the big day. Platinum Motor Group have been providing The Forever Friends Appeal with a vehicle, affectionately referred to as ‘Ted’s Truck’ for the last 10 years, which has helped Ted to fulfill his busy diary of visits.

This year Ted will be cruising the streets of Bath, North East Somerset and Wiltshire in a white Vauxhall Meriva getting ready for Ted’s Big Day Out on Friday 18th October. His new Vauxhall has also been decked out in brightly coloured vehicle graphics, with the aim of capturing the attention of motorists and pedestrians, to help promote Ted’s Big Day Out along with the Appeal’s Cancer Care Campaign.

Make sure you look out for ‘Ted’s Truck’ as Ted and the Appeal team are encouraging schools, nurseries, community groups, businesses and individuals to participate in the fundraising day and pay just £1 to take their teddy bears out for the day.  Every year Big Ted gives his fundraising day a dedicated theme, which for this year is ‘Wear a wig or raise a hat!’, to help give his supporters even more ideas to raise funds for the Appeal.

Claire Ellis, Media and Promotions Manager from Platinum Motor Group says: “We are pleased to have been associated with the Forever Friends for 10 years now and are happy to provide Ted with his Vauxhall Meriva for Ted’s Big Day Out. it’s such an important campaign as everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer and we are happy to help in any way we can.’’

Jo Hones, Events and Community Officer for The Forever Friends Appeal says: “We are so pleased to have Platinum Vauxhall supplying us with our Ted’s Truck again this year. It really helps us get out and about in the run up to Ted’s Big Day Out and get to see as many people as we can.’’

All money raised on Ted’s Big Day Out, proudly sponsored by Mogers Solicitors, will go towards The Forever Friends Appeals Cancer Care Campaign which is raising £8million to help build a new and pioneering Cancer Centre for the RUH. This new building will balance clinical expertise with a nurturing and therapeutic environment, and will replace the outdated 70 year old war time buildings currently used, bringing all cancer services at the RUH under one roof.

If you see Ted out in his white Vauxhall Meriva, make sure you give him a wave. If you want to take part in Ted’s Big Day Out and ‘Wear a wig or raise a hat’ for Cancer Care visit the website  www.tedsbigdayout.co.uk to register online or give Ted a ring on 01225 825823.
