The Rotary Club of Chippenham Wiltshire Vale presented a cheque of £1k to The Forever Friends Appeal at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) in Bath, to support the ‘Space for Cancer Care Campaign’. Funds were raised earlier last year during the Rotary Club’s annual Dragon Boat Day fundraising event on and alongside the River Avon in Monkton Park, Chippenham.
President of the club, Andrew Edwards, presented the cheque to Haematology Consultant Sarah Wexler and Zoe Tainton, Community Fundraiser for The Forever Friends Appeal. Mr Edwards comments: “Having personally benefitted from the expertise provided by the RUH Haematology team it is great that I am now in a position, with the support of my Rotary Club, to be able to contribute to their continued success and to help invest in new technology for the benefit of others.”
Sarah Wexler states: “We are very grateful to Mr Edwards and the Rotary Club of Chippenham Wiltshire Vale for their contribution to this exciting new project.”
Last year, seventeen teams took part to raise money for charity and to have some fun on the water. On Saturday 14 July 2012, the Club hopes to see even more rowers racing and supporters cheering on the riverside. If you would information on how to take part please visit:
Community Fundraiser for The Forever Friends Appeal, Zoe Tainton, says: “It is, with support from such key players in the community, that our goal is achievable. We are utterly grateful for their very generous donation.”
