From diggers to designers

Fashion showBath racecourse is the place to be on Thursday 12th September 2013 for the Ladies Charity Fashion Lunch in aid of the Forever Friends Appeal’s Cancer Care Campaign.

For once it won’t be the horses taking centre stage with models trotting around in the latest fashions from Definition of Bath, showcasing the latest season’s designs from the likes of Joseph Ribkoff, Gold and Steilmann.

The Lunch has been organised by Paula Church from M J Church in Marshfield who is just as at home with a designer label as a digger. Having always had a passion for fashion and a member of the Forever Friends Appeal Committee, Paula wanted to organise a charity event.  Paula said: ’’I wanted to combine my love of clothes with support for a cause that I am very passionate about.  We never know when we are going to need the RUH, and I wanted to do something positive to raise funds for this wonderful cause.”

This fashion event is fairly unusual because there will not be a catwalk, as all the models will be mingling with the guests, giving everyone the best seat in the house where ever they are situated. Being able to see the garments close up and feel the fabrics is a unique way of experiencing first hand the latest fashions from these prestigious designers.

Maggie Vowles owner of Definition, Bath also has her own personal reason for getting involved in the fashion Lunch: ‘’I have had breast cancer and my husband currently has lung cancer. The Cancer Care Campaign is very close to my heart and I think it is very important to support anything that will help patients locally.’’

Sarah Hudson, Cancer Services Manager at the RUH who will be speaking at the lunch said:

All money raised from the event will be going towards the Forever Friends Appeal’s Cancer Care Campaign Their aim is to help build a new and pioneering Cancer Centre which balances clinical expertise with the provision of a nurturing and therapeutic environment.  The new Centre will make patients feel safe, supported and special so that they can get through their treatment with the least amount of stress.”

Tickets for the event are £40 and are on sale now. You can buy the tickets from Bath Racecourse Definitions, Broad Street, Bath and from the Forever Friends Appeal Office – 01225 825691.
