High sheriff’s concert has its first sponsor

A Bath opticians has signed up as the first city business to support a charity show featuring jazz star Jamie Cullum.

Specsavers, on Westgate Street, has taken out sponsorship for the High Sheriff of Somerset’s charity concert, which will take place in Bath Abbey later this year.

Jamie Cullum will be making a special appearance, along with the Silver Ring Choir, because his father John is the high sheriff.

The event will raise money for a range of charities, including Somerset Crimebeat, The Forever Friends Appeal and Quartet Community Foundation.

John Cullum said: “I am delighted that such a prestigious national brand as Specsavers has signed up to be the first sponsor of the High Sheriff’s annual charity concert, which will be held for the first time in the magnificent setting of Bath Abbey.

“Specsavers of Bath sponsorship will not only help ensure an unforgettable night’s entertainment, but also support three very worthy and local charitable causes.

“I am very grateful to them.

“The concert promises to be a lovely evening.”

Specsavers retail director Phil Lodge added it was important that the company supported local good causes.

He said: “Specsavers Bath are delighted to be able to support the Autumn in the Abbey charity concert.

“It is important to us that having been part of the business community here in Bath for several years that we give something back to the wider community.

“We wish the High Sheriff of Somerset every success with his concert and his fundraising for three very deserving local charities.”
