Have you ever wanted to take on an exhilarating challenge and raise funds for a charity that is close to your heart? If so, then now is your chance. The Forever Friends Appeal based at the Royal United Hospital in Bath are looking for adventurous volunteers from across the hospital’s catchment area to trek along part of The Great Wall of China – one of the wonders of the world!
The Appeal team hope that in September 2014 a team of fundraisers will take part in this experience of a lifetime – at the same time as raising significant funds for the charity. The current focus of The Forever Friends Appeal is the RUH Cancer Care Campaign – to raise £8million towards the build of a pioneering new Cancer Centre for the RUH. By signing up to join the trek, people will be helping to transform care for patients with cancer and their families at the RUH.
Event & Community Officer for The Forever Friends Appeal, Jo Hones, comments: “Immerse yourself in tradition, history and ancient mythology and experience the trip of a lifetime. It is an incredible challenge – one to never forget, but every step of hard work will be worth it.”
“The RUH treats over 2000 new cancer patients every year. We have all been touched by cancer, if not personally, then through friends, family or colleagues. You could sign up to join our team as an individual or take part with people you know – perhaps in memory of a loved one, or to celebrate the lives of those people you love around you!”
The RUH Cancer Care Campaign is raising £8million towards the cost of building a pioneering new Cancer Centre at the RUH, which is due to be completed by around 2017. The new Cancer Centre will be a joint NHS / charitably funded project with the parties contributing c66 / 33 % respectively.
