Summer isn’t over yet! One of Bath’s most popular square’s; Kingsmead Square will be celebrating summer together with a Traditional Fete this Sunday 14th September, from 11am – 7pm. The day will be raising funds for The Forever Friends Appeal at the RUH. Owners of Grace & Ted boutique in Kingsmead Square have organised this event to celebrate the end of summer with Bath’s much loved community. Kingsmead Square is Bath’s biggest ‘food and drink plaza’, it is the place you would find coffee and cake lovers relaxing, those nuts for noodles, as well as colleagues and friends grabbing a pint in one it’s popular pubs.
Everyone will be re-living their childhoods, enjoying a vintage-like Summer Fete, with traditional games and activities for children like the old time favourite; apple bobbing, there will also be cupcake decorating, face painting, staged live music and a close up magician.
Emma Savage, owner of Grace & Ted says: “I wanted to organise a fete in the square to show the locals that Kingsmead square is a great place to chill out. The traditional fete games give us an excuse to be kids for the day whilst also raising money for an incredible charity. Everyone has been so keen to get involved, it has been great seeing our little Kingsmead community come together. I would especially like to thank; Councillor David Dixon and Bath BID for helping me to organise the day.”
The Forever Friends Appeal is currently raising £8.5 million towards an exceptional new Cancer Centre. The Appeal have raised a fantastic £6 million so far and every penny raised from now on is needed to transform cancer care and to make this Cancer Centre extra special.
The current cancer facilities are over 70 years old and not fit for purpose, the RUH are planning on replacing the single story buildings with a state-of-the-art Cancer Centre, which will take an holistic approach to its environment and surroundings. The Clinicians want to create a soothing environment which will make the patients and their families feel relaxed, special, supported.
Emma Savage continues: “My Company Partner, Sharon is a registered nurse and has worked at the RUH previous to owning the shop. Having lived in Bath all our lives, we are always reminded of the incredible work The Forever Friends Appeal does and the support it offers to people in the city. When we became aware of the plans for the new Cancer Centre and we decided we would love to try and help raise the funds needed, even if only in a small way. It’ll be a life changing Centre for so many people.”
