The Forever Friend’s Appeal is excited to be showing the classic film, Dirty Dancing certificate 12A, at their annual Movie by Moonlight. Royal Victoria Park, Bath will play host on Saturday 31st August; where the outdoor film will start around 8.30pm when moonlight arrives. Entry to the event is free and all funds raised on the night will go towards the RUH Cancer Care Campaign.
Each year the Appeal organise the event, located on Middle Common Royal Victoria Park just opposite the Approach golf course, with the very kind support of Geoff Bissex of Filmair Mobile Cinema Services. Events & Community Officer for The Forever Friends Appeal, Jo Hones, comments: “Our Movie by Moonlight is a great fun event where you can enjoy a summers evening’s entertainment with your friends and family. We are so excited about showing Dirty Dancing – Nobody puts baby in the corner! So we are encouraging people from all across the RUH catchment area to come along and help us get even closer to reaching our target to help build a new Cancer Centre at Bath’s RUH.”
The RUH Cancer Care Campaign is the current focus of The Forever Friends Appeal, with the aim to help build a new and pioneering Cancer Centre which balances clinical expertise with the provision of a nurturing and therapeutic environment. The new Centre will make patients feel safe, supported and special so that they can get through their treatment with the least amount of stress, and their families can feel that they are well supported as well. The event is free entry but there will be a bucket collection on the night for the Campaign, as well as the opportunity to text your donation.
The Forever Friends Appeal is encouraging anyone who has a love for Dirty Dancing, or has never seen it before and feels it is about time they experienced the classic film, to come along. Organisers recommend arriving early to secure a good spot to enjoy the show. There will be refreshments available for you to purchase throughout the evening or you are more than welcome to bring along your own picnic, although please note that BBQs and glass are prohibited on site. It is recommended that you bring warm clothing and a torch for later in the evening. Heart FM will also be supporting the event.
