The Forever Friends Appeal is excited to be showing the popular musical romance Grease, certificate PG, at their annual Movie by Moonlight. Royal Victoria Park in Bath will play host to the outdoor film screening on Sunday 31st August, which will start at around 8.30pm, when moonlight arrives! Entry to the event is free and all funds raised on the night will go towards the Royal United Hospital’s Cancer Care Campaign.
The Appeal’s annual event will once again take place on Middle Common Royal Victoria Park just opposite the Approach golf course, with the very kind support of Geoff Bissex of Filmair Mobile Cinema Services. Last year, hundreds of people came along to the event for a screening of Dirty Dancing, which raised over £6,000 for the Appeal’s Cancer Care Campaign. Events & Community Officer for The Forever Friends Appeal, Emily Lynch, comments: “Our Movie by Moonlight is a really special event where you can enjoy a summer night’s entertainment with your friends and family. Last year’s screening of Dirty Dancing was a huge success and we hope that this year, even more people will come along to watch Grease, to help us get even closer to reaching our £8.5 million target to help build a new Cancer Centre at Bath’s RUH.”
The RUH Cancer Care Campaign is the current focus of The Forever Friends Appeal, with the aim to help build a new and pioneering Cancer Centre which balances clinical expertise with the provision of a nurturing and therapeutic environment. The new Centre will make patients feel safe, supported and special so that they can get through their treatment with the least amount of stress, and their families can feel that they are well supported as well. The event is free entry but there will be a bucket collection on the night for the Campaign, as well as the opportunity to text your donation.
The Forever Friends Appeal is encouraging anyone who has a love for Grease, or has never seen it before and feels it is about time they experienced the classic film, to come along. Organisers recommend arriving early to secure a good spot to enjoy the show. There will be refreshments available for you to purchase throughout the evening or you are more than welcome to bring along your own picnic, although please note that BBQs and glass are prohibited on site. It is recommended that you bring warm clothing and a torch for later in the evening. Heart FM will also be supporting the event.
Emily further comments, “We are adding an extra special fancy dress element this year and are very excited to be working in partnership with Bath Theatrical Costume Hire, Frome who will be dressing staff at The Forever Friends Appeal in Grease inspired outfits. We encourage everyone to come dressed in their finest Pink Lady or T-Bird inspired costume to make it an evening to remember. There will also be a prize for the best dressed boy and girl!”
