New Bath ‘BAB’ Fundraising Group

There is a new Bath ‘BAB’ Fundraising Group which will be supporting The Forever Friends Appeal at the Royal United Hospital. ‘BAB’ stands for the Appeal’s ‘Be a Brick’ scheme which gives individuals, companies and groups the opportunity to ‘Be a Brick!’ and ‘Buy a virtual Brick for £10, a Row for £100 or a Wall for £1000’ to help raise funds towards the Appeal’s RUH Cancer Care Campaign- helping to build an exceptional new Cancer Centre for patients and their families at the hospital.

A year on from the launch of the scheme in February 2013, the Appeal are very pleased to announce that ‘Be a Brick’ has raised an amazing £120,000 to date. Actress, Brenda Blethyn, OBE, who is most recently famous for her role in the television programme, Vera, is a keen supporter of The Forever Friends Appeal and Ambassador for their ‘Be a Brick’ initiative. Whilst recently visiting the hospital for the scheme’s one year anniversary, Brenda Blethyn helped the Appeal launch their brand new ‘Be a Brick’ collection boxes to encourage people to save their pennies and pounds to buy more virtual bricks for the new Cancer Centre at the hospital.

In return for purchasing a virtual brick at the cost of £10 each, donors will receive a ‘Be a Brick’ certificate and acknowledgement letter. If donors choose to purchase a virtual ‘Row’ for £100 or ‘Wall’ for £1000, they will receive a certificate together with an acknowledgement of their chosen name within the design of the new Cancer Centre.

The Forever Friends Appeal is raising £8.5 towards the new Cancer Centre and needs the help and support of community groups who can help them spread the word and help raise funds towards the Campaign.

The aim of the new Bath based BAB group is to meet on occasions for a relaxing, social drink and to organise fun activities together to help raise funds towards ‘walls’ for the ‘Be a Brick’ scheme.

The Forever Friends Appeal is encouraging people to join the Bath BAB Group, in a joint effort to fight against this disease and do something special to celebrate the life and memories of their loved ones. Community Fundraiser at The Forever Friends Appeal, Zoe Tainton, says: “It is a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and make a real difference to something that affects so many of us. If you are interested in joining the group, please get in touch, I would love to hear from you.”

If you would like to join the group, please contact Zoe Tainton on 01225 825825 or zoe.tainton@nhs.net
