On Tuesday 13th November, the Headmaster of Kingswood Preparatory School, Mr Mark Brearey presented a cheque to The Forever Friends Appeal at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.
Mark raised the money by participating in a 6 mile swim organised by the British Long Distance Swimming Association in the River Dee.
The cheque is the first donation from Kingswood Prep School who has made a commitment to raise as much money as possible for the new Cancer Unit at the RUH.
Mark said; ‘We are delighted to be able to support this worthy cause. We have formed a new Charity Committee at school and the children are involved in discussing innovative and exciting challenges that the school community can take part in, to raise as much money for the new RUH Cancer Unit as we can.’
Zoe Tainton, Community Fundraiser for The Forever Friends Appeal, expressed her sincere thanks and said;
‘The pioneering new Cancer Centre will transform all cancer services at the RUH. The facilities will be under one roof and will be available to 500, 000 people in the catchment area. Unfortunately there are over 2000 new cases of cancer at RUH each year- which is why we want to improve the care and environment in which they are treated, for all patients- both children and adults and their families visiting the cancer facilities.’
