To celebrate The Forever Friends Appeal’s brand new annual fundraising week for the Royal United Hospital “Ted’s Big Bake Off!”, official event sponsors Mogers Drewett Solicitors are launching a special schools and nursery competition, which is open to every school and nursery who registers to take part in the event.
Steven Treharne, Managing Partner at Mogers Drewett says “Almost everyone knows someone who has been treated or cared for at the RUH, whether family, friends or colleagues and that is why Mogers Drewett are pleased to adopt The Forever Friends Appeal as our charity of the year again this year”.
Ted’s Big Bake Off, proudly sponsored by Mogers Drewett Solicitors, takes over from Ted’s Big Day Out as the brand new annual fundraising week for the Appeal. Taking place between Monday 5th and Friday 9th October 2015, the event asks individuals, schools, businesses and community organisations to pre-heat their ovens, prepare their mixing bowls and get baking to support the RUH Cancer Care Campaign or a ward or department of their choice at the Hospital. Whether it’s holding a bake sale or hosting a bake off competition at work, school or with friends and family, you can help raise some serious dough to help transform care for patients and their families.
Steven continues: “To encourage as many people as possible to get involved in Ted’s Big Bake Off, Mogers Drewett are running a competition and inviting all registered schools and nurseries in the region to encourage their pupils to design and decorate a cupcake for Ted”
Events & Community Officer for the Appeal, Emily Lynch, explains: “Registration to take part in Ted’s Big Bake Off is completely free! Every school and nursery who registers will receive competition details as well as a special cupcake stencil which can be duplicated, decorated and sent back to the Mogers Drewett team for the chance to win special prizes!”
Mogers Drewett are giving away a £50 Odeon Cinema gift card to the student who is judged as designing the most impressive cupcake and £100 of Waterstones book vouchers to the school or nursery of the winning child. The closing date of submission of entries is Friday 28th September and the competition is split into two categories – 6 and under and 7 to 11 year olds. The winning pulpils and their schools and/or nurseries will be announced by Mogers Drewett by Friday 9th October and the lucky winners will be presented with their prizes by a special visit from Big Ted himself!
The competition was launched this Tuesday 15th September by members of Mogers Drewett, The Forever Friends Events Team and their friendly mascot Big Ted, at three carefully selected schools and nurseries across the RUH catchment area and Daisy Chain Day Nursery in Melksham was one of the lucky three.
Helen from Daisy Chain Nursery comments: “The preschool and toddler children have enjoyed making a pinic for Big Ted for his visit to Daisychain. They have been busy making cupcakes, biscuits and a large sponge cake for him out of lots of recyclable resources and then decorated them. They hope Big Ted has enjoyed his visit as much as they have.”
“For Ted’s Big Bake Off, we will be baking proper cakes and biscuits for all the mums and dads and grandparents to buy during October 5th and 9th October and there will be lots of exciting teddy bear themed activities for everyone to take part in throughout the week.”
If you belong to a school or nursery, you can register today to take part in the Ted’s Big Bake Off week this October and you’ll receive further information about the Mogers Drewett “Design a Cupcake for Ted” Competition.
