Good luck to Glyn Thorogood and his good friend Russell Morrsison for taking part in the Spartan Beast on Saturday 11th October, the first of their three challenges over the next year to raise funds in memory of Glyn’s father in law, the late David Wilson for the cancer care campaign.
The Spartan Beast is a 20km cross country race designed to test the participants true grit and determination as a runner!. With a host of gruelling obstacles and challenges thrown in for good measure.
Last year Glyn’s father in law David Wilson was diagnosed with terminal oesophageal cancer and during his illness received treatment and care in the RUH’s current cancer unit. Unfortunately, he lost his battle in November 2013. The staff and doctor’s at the RUH did an amazing job looking after David and taking care of him and so many other patients, Glyn wanted to do his bit to help raise money for the new cancer care in his loving memory.
Their second challenge will be on the 21st December where they will be running the Portsmouth costal marathon and finally next year to complete these crazy activities they will also take on the Race to the stones, a 100km run along the iconic ridgeway finishing at Stonehenge. Thanks Guys!
