The Forever Friends Appeal is asking people across Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire to pop on their aprons and get baking this October to raise vital funds for Bath’s Royal United Hospital.
Ted’s Big Bake Off, sponsored by Mogers Drewett Solicitors, is the brand new annual fundraising week for the Appeal.
Taking place in October (between Monday 5 and Friday 9), Ted’s Big Bake Off asks individuals, schools, businesses and community organisations to pre-heat their ovens, prepare their mixing bowls and get baking to support the RUH Cancer Care Campaign or a ward or department of their choice at the hospital.
Whether it’s holding a bake sale or hosting a bake off competition at work, school or with friends and family, anyone can help raise some serious dough to help transform care for patients and their families.
Emily Lynch, events and community officer for The Forever Friends Appeal, said: “Ted’s Big Bake Off replaces Ted’s Big Day Out! as our brand new annual fundraising week for the Royal United Hospital.
“The RUH provides a service to over 500,000 patients and their families across Bath, Wiltshire, Somerset and even further afield, and we hope that as many people as possible will get baking in October to support the hospital and the local community. Raising money couldn’t be more delicious! Once again we are very grateful to all staff at Mogers Drewett Solicitors for sponsoring Ted’s Big Bake Off.”
All bakers will be able to choose their own recipe for success and bake to fundraise for a ward or department close to their heart, or the current RUH Cancer Care Campaign – raising £8.5 million towards a new Cancer Centre.
Whether its Victoria sponges, cupcakes, flapjacks or delicious breads; all tasty treats made will help transform care for patient and their families at the Royal United Hospital.
Emily said: “This year we are proud to be working in partnership with Bath Chronicle who, in celebration of Ted’s Big Bake Off, will be launching an online baking competition which will run throughout the summer holidays. Budding bakers will be asked to upload a photograph and description of their best baking efforts onto the Bath Chronicle website. Members of the public will then be asked to vote for their favorite bakes online; the top three most voted for bakes will be shortlisted and the Appeal will invite the three shortlisted bakers to the RUH on Monday October 5 where their cakes will be judged by special guest judges, with an exceptional prize for the star baker.”
This year, the appeal is also being supported by Platinum Vauxhaull, Trowbidge which has kindly donated the Appeal’s Events Team with a promotional vehicle, affectionately known as “Ted’s Truck” which will be busy travelling around the hospital’s catchment area throughout the summer months to promote the event.
Claire Ellis, Group Media / Promotions Manager at Platinum Vauxhall said: “We are very happy to be supporting this great cause. The Forever Friends Appeal do a tremendous job of raising funds and awareness for the RUH. We look forward to continuing this support with the team.”
Emily said: “We are so grateful to everyone at Platinum Vauxhall, Trowbridge for supporting the Appeal with our brand new event. Their kind support since 2004 with loaning our busy events team a vehicle in which to promote the event is invaluable help to the team, enabling us to travel around the RUH catchment area to promote the event, increase registrations and help transform care for patients and their families at the RUH in the process!”
