I live locally to Bath and began supporting The Forever Friends Appeal five years ago after my husband developed a treatable but not curable cancer. He was a patient at the RUH and thankfully after having chemotherapy and treatment he is now well. I am very grateful to the staff who work in the Oncology department for all the excellent care they gave my husband. Having had first-hand experience of being a carer for my husband and going through our journey with cancer, I think improved care and services will make such a difference for patients and their families. I wanted to say thank you to the staff and the best way I could do that was through my work as a musician and fundraise for the new Cancer Centre.
I began donating money from my music performances. I then became involved the Keynsham and Saltford RUH Fundraising Group. Before COVID, we organised many events including music concerts, coffee mornings and wonderful cake sales. We’ve since found other ways to continue our fundraising throughout the pandemic, a member of the group has been selling vegetables and lavender bags and I have recorded demos for singers to sing along with at home in return for a donation to the Appeal.
If you would like to make a donation to help patients who affected by cancer in Bath and the surrounding area please make a donation.
